About us
For all the details on Slow Food USA and our many programs, download our booklet.

Slow Food Nashville is part of a world-wide movement. Our members consider themselves co-producers, not consumers, because by being informed about how our food is produced and actively supporting those who produce it, we become partners in the production process.

Slow Food supports and promotes . . .

Caring for the land and protecting biodiversity for today’s communities and future generations.

Identifying, promoting and protecting fruits, vegetables, grains, animal breeds, wild foods and cooking traditions that are at risk of disappearing.

Advocating for artisans who grow, produce, market, prepare and serve wholesome food.

Promoting the revival of the kitchen and the table as centers of pleasure, culture and community.

Educating the public and encouraging the enjoyment of foods that are local, seasonal and sustainably grown.

Slow Food is trying to create a food system that is good, clean and fair. A food system based on the principles of high quality and flavor, environmental sustainability and social justice. We want to be catalysts in the broad shift away from the destructive effects of an industrial food system and “fast life.”
